Gambling Community Benefit Fund open
Nine community groups across the Whitsunday electorate have had a great start to 2024 sharing in over $250 000 worth of funding from round 118 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
The Gambling Community Benefit fund offers grants of up to $35 000 to organisations to build their capacity to provide services, leisure activities and economic opportunities for the local community and I am so pleased that our region continues to benefit from this program.
Congratulations to the lastest round of winners:
Whitsunday Weightlifting Association - $35 000 to construct a shed
Friends of St Helens Beach Environment - $16 327.27 to purchase a bbq trailer
Gloucester Sports and Recreation Association - $35 000 to purchase a tractor
Great Barrier Reef Festival - $16 697 to purchase fencing, lighting and sound equipment
Healthy Kids - $32 000 Project to run health and fitness workshops
Proserpine Citizens Band - $34 357.95 to upgrade facilities and install security lighting
Sailability Whitsunday - $34 200 to upgrade drainage accessibility and shade protection
Volunteer Marine Rescue Whitsunday - $35 000 to replace doors and windows in club house
Wildlife Care Mackay - $14 713.20 to purchase a shipping container, incubator and equipment
Total for Whitsunday electorate $253,295.42
With costs of living increases not only affecting families but also community groups it is important that we take up these opportunities. With round 120 of the grant now open, I am again calling on our region’s not for profits to make sure they get their applications in so our region can receive their share of funding on offer. I encourage any community groups, that may need to make some building improvements, or purchase some new equipment or machinery or provide some training or host an event to contact my office for further information and for letters of to see if they are eligible to apply”.
