Lack of Housing for Mackay-Whitsundays

The Member for Whitsunday has called on the Palaszczuk Labor Government to invest in housing for the Mackay-Whitsunday region.

“Yesterday, I spoke in Queensland Parliament about the failures to deliver affordable social housing.

“There is currently a 0% vacancy rate for social housing, with only 26 properties available in the private sector to rent in the Whitsundays.

“I call on the Palaszczuk Labor Government to expedite investment, approvals and transfers of housing stock to address the housing crisis.

“The Queensland Government must work with the community housing sector – including Whitsunday Housing Company and Connect Housing Group Mackay, who are ready to deliver solutions.
