Northern Beaches Infrastructure Planning
Our community calls on the Palaszczuk Labor Government to bring forward allocated planning funding of $750,000 for infrastructure upgrades, to the coming budget for the 2021-2022 year, to meet the demands of growth in the Northern Beaches of Mackay.
Today we have launched a petition to demonstrate the community support for this action.
The Queensland Government needs to bring forward road upgrades to support the growth, liveability and safety of the Northern Beaches to support the broader Mackay region’s economy and productivity.
The Queensland Transport Roads Investment Plan has allocated $750,000 towards planning for capacity upgrades and duplication of Mackay-Bucasia Road as part of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program which outlines an indicative date for planning to commence, scheduled for 2023-2024.
The population of the Mackay’s Northern Beaches has seen large levels of growth and is predicted to increase by 10,673 residents by 2036, or 53.6%. One in every six residents of the Mackay region live within the Northern Beaches.
The Mackay-Bucasia Road is a critical access point for individuals and businesses commuting. The lack of infrastructure to support growth directly impacts on the Mackay region’s productivity and liveability.
