I welcome the campaign to increase visitation to the Whitsunday region, through the new Whitsunday Holiday Dollars program.  

 I would like to congratulate Tash Wheeler from Tourism Whitsundays, as well as Tourism and Events Queensland, for advocating for the tourism sector and launching this initiative.

Now more than ever, the tourism industry needs support from the Queensland Government.

I have been strongly advocating for our region, writing letters, meeting with local operators, and standing up in Parliament.

This is a much-needed and welcome investment for the Whitsundays.

Both visitors and locals who are travelling in the region from 4 May to 30 June 2021, will be eligible for the vouchers. These vouchers will be available up to the value of $200, or 50% of an eligible tourism experience, totalling $1.2 million.
