Whitsunday walking track to be upgraded

There has been further investment in the Ngara walking track, which will be upgraded and extended in order to best showcase the beauty of the Whitsundays.

BUDGET 2023–24

A scenic stroll will be on the cards for Member for Whitsunday Amanda Camm MP when upgrade works are complete on the Ngaro walking track in the Whitsunday Islands National Park.

Ms Camm today welcomed a further $3.9 million commitment to upgrade the Whitsunday walking track as part of a $10.1 million investment in Ecotourism and World Heritage Areas, delivered by the Queensland Government in partnership with the Australian Government.

“This is a key walking trail that showcases the world-class beauty of the Whitsunday Islands,” she said.

“I have been calling for walking trail upgrades for several years now.

“I am pleased to see $3.9m has been allocated in the 2023–24 budget, amounting to a $5.7m total spent to extend this major track.”

The Ngaro walking track offers a trail from which to view the beauty of the landscape and surrounding islands.

“We should be doing all we can to showcase the splendour of our region by way of nature walks and immersive experiences,” Ms Camm said.

“This investment will ensure visitors and locals alike will be able to soak up the sights of the Whitsundays in a healthy and active way with walks to suit all levels of fitness and ability.”
