Whitsunday Deserves Fair Funding for the Marine Tourism Industry

The Whitsundays makes up 40% of the $6.3 billion Great Barrier Reef Tourism Industry.

Private Marina Owners are subsidising and supporting our Whitsunday Charter Boat Industry.

The Queensland Government needs to provide equitable support and funding to operators who are impacted by international boarder closures.

I have written to the Queensland Tourism Minister and Premier to seek an urgent meeting so that a funding arrangement similar to Cairns and Ports North can be negotiated for the Whitsundays.

The Whitsundays cannot be ignored and overlooked for any longer.

This is not about politics. This is about the livelihoods of mums and dads.

I urge the Queensland Government to engage with operators who are facing the same challenges as their counterparts in Cairns.
